Karen Jupe, RN

Director of Nurses

Karen Jupe grew up on a ranch in Eastern Wyoming and attended a small, country school (38 in her graduating class).  She always knew that she wanted to be in a helping profession and considered medical school, veterinary school, and nursing.  She chose nursing and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from Creighton University in 1991.  Her nursing experience includes hospital nursing, home health nursing, acute psychiatric nursing and finally, long term care.

Ms. Jupe worked as a floor nurse and ADON in Wyoming nursing homes for eight years before moving to Texas in 2005.  In 2003, Karen was selected to a nationwide panel of RN’s to assist in preparing national standards for CNA certification.  She spent a week in Chicago with RN’s from all over the country at the Natl. Board of Nursing Convention.

Ms. Jupe was the Director of Nursing at St. Catherine’s in Waco for 2 years before moving into that role at Wesley Woods in June of 2008.  During her tenure, Ms. Jupe has personally interviewed every licensed nurse prior to their hire.  Having a staff that is dedicated to patient care and customer service is very important to her.

It is rare for a nursing facility to have the same Director of Nurses for ten consecutive years, and Ms. Jupe considers Wesley Woods to be her second home.  “Wesley Woods ‘feels’ different than any nursing home I have been a part of”, Karen says, “part of it is having four individualized units, but the bigger part is the teamwork and genuine compassion from the entire team”.  Wesley Woods is grateful that she is a big part of this team.
